What we collect
When you submit the form, we collect the job posting link and your email address. If you arrived from one of our ads or another site, we record which one along with your submission. We use the Reddit Pixel to count visits and form submissions that come from our Reddit ads. It sets a cookie and shares that activity with Reddit, but we don't send it your email or the job link you submit. We don't use any other analytics on this site.
How we use it
We use the job link to research the posting, and your email to send you what we find. We may also email you about Porchlight, such as when it launches. You can ask us to stop at any time.
Who we share it with
Browser extension. If you install the Porchlight extension, it reads the job you are looking at on LinkedIn or Indeed (the posting link, job id, company, title, location, posted date, applicant count and whether it is Easy Apply) and sends that to our server with a random install id so we can check the company's careers site and show you the result. When you click Apply on a job and it opens the employer's own careers site, the extension notices which hiring system that site runs on (for example Workday or Greenhouse) and records that system for the company, so the next person gets a result. It sends only the system and the company's account name on it, never the page you landed on or anything you type there. It does not read anything else on the page, your profile, or your browsing history. If you tap "I applied", we store that application under your install id and ask you two weeks later whether the company replied; those answers are combined across users to show reply rates per company. If you tap "Request a check", we also store the email you give us so we can send you the result. Our server is hosted by Cloudflare.
We don't sell your information. Form submissions are processed by our form provider, Formspree and our site is hosted by Expo. We may use the job links you submit, without your email or other personal details, to build our data about which companies reply to applicants.
Deleting your data
To have your information deleted, email us at admin@getporchlight.net and we'll remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
